Aeroseal Duct Sealing

Commercial HVAC systems can have major leakage problems, often losing 15% to 20% of conditioned air and sometimes even more.  Sealing leaks by conventional methodology (mastic) is problematic because it requires finding each leak and having direct access to all sides of the duct.  Also, the aged mastic can crack or dry out over time resulting in increased leakage over time.  Aeroseal dramatically reduces leakage in air ducts with a revolutionary technology that allows an atomized sealant to “find” the leaks in the system, and accumulate around the edges of the leaks until they are filled with a flexible, durable seal.  Aeroseal typically reduces leakage by 80% to 95% and sometimes even more.

Sealing inaccessible risers with the Aeroseal® process cut leakage by 90% and allowed the project to be completed.

ASHRAE and ACCA (the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers and the Air Conditioning Contractors of America, respectively) revised their ANSI (American National Standards Institute) Standard 180, covering Standard Practice for Inspection and Maintenance of Commercial Building HVAC Systems this year.

A five-phase duct sealing project has delivered about one boxcar worth of leakage reduction every 16 seconds.

ASHRAE has published a new standard for commercial building energy audits.

Airways Systems became an official Aeroseal® commercial service provider in early 2017, and we’d like to share some examples of how we have been able to solve problems for our customers, get them into code, and dramatically reduce leakage in their HVAC systems.

Spring is coming and once the pollen starts to fly, it’s a great time to capture energy savings by having your units’ coils cleaned and changing your filters.

The June, 2017 issue of Chief Engineer magazine featured a big article on Airways' Aeroseal® duct sealing service.  It did a great job of describing what Aeroseal is all about -- how it works and why you might consider having it done.  Check it out here!
